Football Fans,

The FA Cup third round didnt disappoint, providing us with a great weekend of upsets and a few severe thrashings.  There will be four upcoming replays before the fourth round is set, including Leicester v Man City and Leeds v Arsenal.  It is always lovely to see small clubs do well on the big stage, so congrats are in order to Stevenage (defeated Newcastle 3-1), Crawley (defeated Derby County 2-1), Burton Albion (defeated Middlesborough 2-1), and Notts County (defeated Sunderland 2-1).  Chelsea handed a 7-0 thrashing to Ipswich town, taking out some of the frustrations related to their recent poor run of form in the EPL.  Perhaps this will be a turning point for them as they look forward to the New Year.  We have the two Carling Cup Semi-Finals and an EPL match to look forward to in the midweek.  Tuesday brings us West Ham hosting Birmingham in the first leg of the Semis.  Both clubs are hungry for glory since their respective EPL campaigns are not looking so good right now.   On Wednesday we see Ipswich Town hosting Arsenal in the other Semi.  Ipswich will be hoping to rebound from their weekend result in the FA Cup, and they will need to be in fine form at home if they are going to get by the Arsenal.  Wednesday also brings us an EPL encounter between surprising Blackpool, and struggling Liverpool.  Ian Holloway has done a masterful job managing Blackpool, while Liverpool is relying on former star Kenny Dalglish to right the ship after Hodgson nearly sank it.

The weekend brings us some nice football as well.  If you are up early on Saturday morning feel free to come down and join "Richard the Eagle" and I as we open early for the Swansea v Crystal Palace fixture (5:45am).  Go Palace!  Later in the day two London neighbors battle it out, as West Ham host Arsenal in the 10:30am slot.  Sunday is the highlight day of the week, with two mouth watering EPL fixtures back to back.  First is the Merseyside Derby between Everton and Liverpool (kickoff 7am), immediately followed by in form Tottenham hosting undefeated Man. United (kickoff 9am).  Finally to round out our Sunday we have both Real Madrid and Barcelona in action in the early afternoon.  Like the World, a football is round, so dont waste your time watching the pointy ended American game.  Get down to the Bulldog, and enjoy the real thing!
