This weeks soccer action from your favorite pub...

Mar 1st 2011
Football Fans,

The first week of March brings us a packed schedule, including a couple of big EPL clashes.  The action starts this afternoon when     Manchester United travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in our feature lunchtime fixture.  This is the first of two tough tests for Sir Alex Ferguson and his squad this week.  Chelsea would be delighted with a positive result against the league leaders, and are counting on record signing Fernando Torres to find his way on to the score sheet today.  Be sure to join the Rocky Mountain Blues and the Colorado Red Devils as they support their respective teams this afternoon. Our other Tuesday action sees Everton hosting Championship side Reading in a 5th round FA Cup tie, and Real Salt Lake hosting Columbus in the second leg of their Concacaf Champions League Quarterfinal.   Wednesday lunch kicks off with our featured match, an FA Cup 6th round fixture between Man City and Aston Villa.  Simultaneous to this game we have a Bundesliga clash between Bayern Munich and Schalke, and we will be streaming Arsenals 5th round FA Cup replay with Leyton Orient.  To round out the day Valencia take on Barcelona in a La Liga fixture.

On the weekend we start with an early open (5:45am) Saturday morning for Carling Cup winner Birminghams clash with West Brom.  Both clubs are desperate for points, as the relegation battle heats up.  This match is followed by two EPL fixtures in the 8am slot.  Arsenal host Sunderland at the Emirates, and Newcastle take on Everton in a clash between two northern clubs.   Man City face Wigan in our final EPL fixture of the day, followed by Barcelona v Zaragoza in the early afternoon.

Sunday brings us our match of the week, and a traditional classic, as Liverpool welcome Manchester United to Anfield.  Kenny Dalglishs Liverpool are no pushovers, and they should make things difficult for the Red Devils.  Andy Carroll may be fit to see his first action in a Liverpool uniform as well.  To finish out a great week there are two matches in the 9am slot.  Giant killers Wolverhampton host Tottenham, and surging West Ham play host to Stoke City.

Last but not least, we are less than twenty days out from our local clubs first match in the 2011 campaign.  The MLS Cup defending Champion Rapids host MLS newcomers Portland Timbers at DSG Park Saturday March 19th.  The Bulldog Supporters  Group (www.bulldogsupporters.com) will be hosting a massive tailgate, and will be vocally supporting our team on the Terrace as they look for their first points of 2011.  If you love the game, dont miss this opportunity to support your hometown football club!
