Football Fans,

Spirits were high at the Bulldog this past Saturday, with wins from both England and the Rapids.  Thanks to all of you that came down to support your teams!  This weeks lineup of football starts today with a terrific lunchtime match up between England and Ghana (our featured match with volume).  This will be Ghanas first ever match vs. England, and twenty-one thousand Ghanian faithful have made the trip to Wembley in anticipation of a victory for the Black Stars.  England of course will have other plans, and despite resting a handful of big names, will still field a very strong side against the Ghanians.  Liverpool Striker Andy Carroll is expected to start up front in the absence of Rooney, and Gareth Barry will Captain the England side.

A bit later in the day the USMNT takes on Paraguay, a 2010 World Cup quarter finalist, in Nashville Tenn.   The U.S. is fresh off a draw with Argentina, as Jaun Agudelo came up with an opportunistic strike to level things for the stars and stripes.  Agudelo is a teen phenom, who plies his trade for the New York Red Bulls of MLS.  Look for him and Altidore to run up top against their South American foes tonight.  After the U.S. fixture we finish the night with CONCACAF rivals Mexico taking on Venezuela.

The Colorado Rapids have two matches this week to look forward to.  First they take on the Chicago Fire in the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday night.  The Bulldog will stream this match with volume live at 5:30pm.  The Open Cup is akin to the English FA Cup, with the tournament open to any club that is based in the United States.  Success in the Open Cup relies heavily on a teams depth, as the tournament is played throughout the regular season.  It is also a chance to see some new faces make an appearance for the first team.   Sunday the Rapids face a rejuvenated D.C. United side. Last year D.C. finished at the bottom of the table.  Some positive off season changes, including the acquisition of Charlie Davies from Sochaux, has D.C. reinvigorated for the 2011 season.  The Rapids will be welcoming Omar Cummings and Sanna Nyassi back from International duty, and should have a full squad for Coach Smith to select from.  This is a late afternoon Sunday match (5pm), and the weather is supposed to be beautiful.  The Bulldog Supporters Group is hosting a tailgate/bus trip (1:30pm departure from the bar) prior to the match, and details can be found at www.bulldogsupporters.com .

The weekend is chock full of MLS and EPL matches, and the Bulldog will be open early both weekend days.  Saturday West Ham plays host to Manchester United in the 5:45am slot.  The Hammers are keen for the upset as they are in a dogfight at the bottom of the table, while Man U. cant afford a slip up at the top.  At 8am we see both Chelsea and Liverpool in action,  followed by Arsenal at 10:30am.  The Bulldog will be featuring MLS for the remainder of the day, as we as a super clasico between A.C. Milan and Inter Milan.

Sunday we will be open early for breakfast and Happy Hour, as Fulham face Blackpool in the 6:30am slot.  This match is followed by Man City taking on Sunderland, and Villareal hosting Barcelona at 9am.   Rapids fans will begin queing up for the bus out to DSG right around the time Roma kicks off vs. Juventus in the early afternoon.  Overall should be a great weekend, punctuated by a Rapids home game!
