Football Fans,
There is plenty of exciting midweek football to take in as we close in on the culmination of the European football campaigns, and continue to enjoy our MLS domestic season. Wednesday brings us a Barcelona match at lunch (12pm), followed by an evening full of MLS football. Our two highlight matches of the midweek fall on Thursday and Friday, with the playoff for the final EPL spot being contested by the Championship sides that finished 3rd through 6th. Thursday we see the first of two legs between Nottingham Forest and Swansea City (12:30pm), and Friday brings us Reading v Cardiff City. The winners of these home and away contests will face each other in a final match at Wembley to decide who will get the third and final EPL promotion.
Only two weeks left in the English Premier League season, and the relegation battle is nearing the boiling point. The action begins early Saturday morning (5:45am kickoff) with three matches that all have relegation implications. Blackburn, Wolves, Blackpool, Wigan, West Ham, and Birmingham are all in the fight to stay up, and three of those clubs will be featured in the early morning hours at the Bulldog. The next big match of the day is the FA Cup Final between Manchester City & Stoke (8am). This should be a great battle for some very prestigious silverware. Later in the day our Colorado Rapids face D.C. United away, and the Bulldog will be hosting an away game viewing party. This match falls perfectly in to our Happy Hour window, so come on down and join us in supporting our hometown Club! To finish a great day of football we have a very intriguing match up between Seattle and Portland. This is the first ever Northwest Derby in the MLS, and the match atmospher should be tremendous!
We wrap up our weekend with Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham all in action on Sunday morning. Chelsea are still technically within striking distance of Man. United, but it would take a serious slip up for the Red Devils to give away the six point advantage they hold with only two matches to go. None the less there is plenty to play for, as the season nears its close.
In two weeks time the Red Devils of Manchester will face the Blaugrana of Barcelona in the Champions League Final, and the Bulldog is planning a street party to celebrate the big game. We will be closing off the parking lane and sidewalk in front of the Pub, putting up some outdoor TVs, and serving cold beer on the extended patio. In addition to featuring the biggest match in Europe, we will also be hosting a pre-party for the Rapids match that evening versus Sporting Kansas City. Buses will be leaving from the Pub to shuttle fans up to the match, so plan on sticking around to support your local club (Reservations can be made at www.bulldogsupporters.com ). This is sure to be an epic day of football and fun!
