Football Fans,

The Colorado Rapids, by winning the MLS Cup last season, earned a berth in the 2011/12 CONCACAF Champions League tournament.  Tonight at Dicks Sporting Goods Park they host Metapan from El Salvador, the 2010 Apertura Champions. This will be the Rapids first meaningful International competition, with a berth in the FIFA Club World Cup at stake to the eventual Champion.  This is a group stage match, and the Rapids will be facing each of their three opponents both home and away.  Lets help our team get off to a good start by making our way out to Dicks in support this evening.  Both the Bulldog and Three Lions will have buses running up to the match, please make your reservations online at www.bulldogsupporters.com .  Our Rapids will be back in action Saturday night when they take on Chivas USA.  Chivas started the season poorly, but have since rebounded a bit.  They sit 10 points behind the Rapids with two games in hand, putting them in a must win scenario if they want a realistic chance at the playoffs.  Once again Buses will be departing from both pubs, and there will be a tailgate for this match.

In International football we have plenty of mouth watering fixtures to look forward to this week.  Today we see Barcelona face off against Real Madrid in the 2nd leg of the Supercopa de Espana (3pm).  The first match was an absolute dogfight, providing some great goals, and ending in a 2-2 draw.  Directly following that match France takes on Portugal in the U-20 world cup semifinals, and at 7pm we have Mexico facing Brazil in the other semifinal.  All in all a great Wednesday for footy.

Saturday we have an early morning start with Arsenal taking on Liverpool at the Emirates.  Kickoff is at 5:45am, and both the Bulldog and the Three Lions will be open for breakfast for this clash of EPL powerhouses.  The Premier League continues throughout the morning culminating with the Chelsea v West Brom fixture at 10:30am.  Highlights for the rest of Saturday include the Final of the U-20 World Cup (7pm), and a full schedule of MLS action.  Another early open on Sunday brings us EPL and Championship football.  The two teams atop the EPL table meet in the 9am slot, with Bolton hosting Manchester City.  Provided there is no player strike in La Liga, we should have the Real Madrid match at 10am, and possibly Barcelona at noon.  Monday of next week Manchester United take on Tottenham at lunchtime.  Both Pubs will be featuring a lunch special during the game.  Have a great week, and dont forget to get out and support your Rapids!
