FootballFans,

Thereis one team in Denver that was a Champion last year.  It wasnt theBroncos, the Avs, the Rockies or the Nuggets.  It was the Colorado Rapids, who went on an amazingunderdog run to win the 2010 MLS Cup!  Thursdaynight they begin their title defense at home against one of the teams theyeliminated from last years playoffs, the Columbus Crew. We are calling on all fans of the game to rally, and get out in support of ourhometown club.  All the Rapids supporters will be out in fullforce, and the Bulldog Supporters Group will be running shuttles to the matchfrom both the Three Lions and the Bulldog (reservations can be made at www.bulldogsupporters.com).  Even if you are a casual fan, the Rapids need butts in seats andplenty of atmosphere, so make your best efforts to get to the match.  Awin here for our Burgundy Boys would earn us another home fixture onthe weekend, against either Sporting K.C. or the L.A Galaxy.  The Rapidsmay not be as potent as they were offensively last season, but they are a greatteam, and they do hold home field advantage.  Columbus finishedthe second half of the season in poor form, and should have a difficulttime here at altitude.  It would be lovely to send them packing two yearsin a row!

The other midweek wild card playoff fixture pits FC Dallasagainst the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday evening at7pm.  This game is the opener of the 2011 MLS playoffs, and should makefor a great battle.  Kickoff falls into Happy Hour at both pubs, and $320oz Coors Lights & $5 20oz Carlsbergs will be available for allthe MLS Playoff games.

Our weekend starts very early Saturday morning (5am) withEverton hosting Manchester United.  The Reddevils will be keen to bounce back from the absolute thrashingthey suffered at the hands of City last weekend.  Our big match of themorning has Arsenal travelling to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea. The Gunners have shored up their defense and put a string of resultstogether.  Chelsea lost two key players to red card suspension lastweekend, but will no doubt be tough to beat at home.  Top of the tableMan City kicks in to action at 8am versus the Wolves, and we finish the mornings EPL action with West Brom facingLiverpool.  The afternoon sees both Barcelona andReal Madrid taking on their respective opponents, and the eveingbrings us more MLS playoff action.  The highlight match of the eveningpits Real Salt Lake against Seattle (8pm)in the first leg of their two game series, while Sporting K.C.still waits to find out who their opponent will be.

Sunday morning starts off at a much more reasonable hour, as Tottenhamface the Queens Park Rangers at 9am.  A decent Serie Afixture in the early afternoon carries us into more MLS playoff action. At 2pm Philadelphia hosts a Houston side thatis potentially the hottest team in the league right now.  This isPhiladelphias first trip to the post season, and they are athome.  Certainly a must win, since they have to travel south toHouston next week.  L.A. awaits their opponent, and rightnow their game is tentatively scheduled for Sunday evening.  It could verywell be the Rapids taking on Becks and Landoright here at DSG.  I will send another quick post on Friday, once we knowthe outcomes of the midweek wild card matches.  Cheers!
