Friendsof Football,

Its International football that takes center stage this second week ofNovember, with a couple of top tier Friendlies, Euro 2012 playoff matches, andsome World Cup qualifiers.  In addition, the FA Cups first round is ourearly morning football on the weekend.

Our first friendly match of the week has Braziltravelling to Gabon, with an 11am kickoff Thursday morning. Gabon stands 68th in the World rankings, putting them on par with teamslike Honduras, Costa Rica, and Poland.  Brazil stands fifth, andexpectations are very high for them as they prepare for the 2014 Cup.  Ourother Thursday lunchtime fixture is a UEFA U-21 Qualifier betweenEngland and Iceland.  These two sides last metin early October, with England coming away with a 3-0 win.  All the goalsin that game were scored by upcoming Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin. This young England side is undefeated in qualifying to date, and theyhope to earn their fourth consecutive trip to the European U-21 Championships.

Friday kicks off with Euro 2012 Playoff Qualifiers. These are the first leg of a home and away series, with the winneradvancing and the loser going home.  Our first match pits Bosnia vPortugal, with an 11am kick off.  Bosnia nearly qualified for the2010 World Cup, and they will fight hard here to eliminate heavily favoredPortugal.   Later in the afternoon Turkey takes onCroatia (tape delay) in another Euro playoff.

The USMNT is back in action, travelling to Francefor a lunchtime International Friendly.  This should be a great test forthe USA and Coach Jurgen Klinsmann, as they continue to develop a new brand ofAmerican Football.  France is ranked fifteenth in the World, so this willbe a prime opportunity for the Stars & Stripes to move up in FIFAs WorldRankings with a good result.  We finish the afternoon with EURO 2012 hostsUkraine taking on a very strong Germany.  Thisis a Friendly since both sides are already qualified for next Summerstournament.

Our other big match of the weekend is another InternationalFriendly, with England facing the Worlds #1 teamSpain.  Kickoff is 10:15am Saturday morning for this highlyanticipated fixture.  England sits seventh in World Rankings, and thismatch will be a serious litmus test for them as they prep for the Championship. Be sure to drop in a bit early to check out some of the FA Cupfirst round action, as we are open at 8am both Saturday and Sunday.  A winfor a small club in the first round can be huge, and the chance at meeting oneof the bigger sides later in the tourny can be worth its weight in gold.

Early next week we have more International fixtures to lookforward to with both the USMNT and England playing again on Tuesday, and then areturn to Club football on the weekend.  We will also be hosting MLSCup Final parties Sunday night, November 20th, as the L.A.Galaxy face the Houston Dynamo for the 2011 MLS Cuptitle!

Oh yeah, just wanted to send out a massive Thank You to former Rapids Head Coach Gary Smith! Gary, you will always be beloved by all Rapids fans for turning our team intoMLS Champions!  Thanks for all your hard work, wisdom, and yourdedication to the players, the club, and the fans!  Best of luck in allyou do moving forward!
