World Football Update - Nov 15th 2011

The USMNT kick off a massive Tuesday football lineup, as theyface Slovenia in an International Friendly.  Kick off isat 10am, and the Pubs will be open an hour early to accommodate  Filling out the afternoon we have quite a few other Friendlies, theEuro 2012 Playoff matches, and some World Cup qualifying.  Englandtakes to the pitch again against regional rival Sweden at 1pm,while Costa Rica take on Spain anhour later.  Portugal faces elimination from Euro 2012,as they battle Bosnia Herzegovina in the lateafternoon.

Weare back to Club football on the weekend, with an early start on Saturdaymorning.  Arsenal get the first match of the day as theytravel to Norwich City, looking to keep the strong form theyhave displayed of late.  We also have an Npower Championship fixture toring in the day, with Burnley hosting LeedsUnited.  There are only two teams in the EPL that are still undefeated aswe enter game week 12, Manchester City and Newcastle, and they face each other in our feature 8am game.  Newcastle has been abig surprise to everyone, and this will certainly be their toughest test todate.  Should be a great one.  Our late morning EPL fixture hasManchester United travelling to Swansea, who havedone quite well to date in the EPL.  Swanseas strength is their defenseand goalkeeping, as we saw last week against Liverpool.  Surely this willbe a difficult match for a Man. United side that had a scorching start to thecampaign, but has struggled a bit recently.  Saturday afternoonis full of action from the other major European Leagues.  BayernMunich take on Borussia Dortmund in a Bundesligaclash, followed by Barcelona, AC Milan, and RealMadrid all taking on their respective opponents.

Sunday provides two tremendous matches for us to enjoy.  First wehave Chelsea taking on Liverpool in ourmorning EPL fixture, with a 9am kickoff.  These two teams sit onlythree points apart in the table, with Chelsea holding theadvantage.  Both sides are keen to take the points, and keep the gapas close as possible with the other front runners.  ChelseasFrank Lampard has been the man in form for the Blues oflate, while Liverpool has struggled to find the back of the net.  LuisSuarez has been creating most of Liverpools chances, and he isdue to have a big game.   Our other big match of the dayconcludes the 2011 MLS campaign.  The L.A. Galaxy kick offagainst the Houston Dynamo in the MLS Cup Final at 7pm MST.  BothPubs will be hosting viewing parties for this massive game to decide the 2011 Champion. Houston struggled early on in the season, but came into form at just the righttime to make their way to the Final.  L.A. has been the team to beatall season, scoring more and conceding fewer than any other team in MLS.  L.A.has been in this position before though, and let it slip out of theirgrasp.  To their advantage they are playing the Final at home to asellout crowd, and they have a very in form David Beckham andRobbie Keane playing for them.  This is Becks final year onhis contract, and it would be nice to see him lift an MLS Cup (since the Rapidsare no longer in it).  Oh yeah, there is one other guy who is probablypretty hungry to lift the Cup, Landon Donavan of theGalaxy.  A missed penalty in the 2009 Final will give him plenty to playfor here.  Make your way down early to ensure you get a good spot for thisone, as the atmosphere at both Pubs promises to be electric!
