World Football Update - Jan 18th 2012
Feature Matches 1/18-1/23
We have quite a few big match ups to enjoy this week.  The action starts Wednesday afternoon with the first leg of the Copa Del Rey Quarterfinals, as Barcelona travel to the unfriendly confines of the Bernabeau to face Real Madrid.  Once again the two top teams in Spain will battle it out for the right to advance to the Semis, and with a 2pm kick off this may be the perfect excuse to ditch work and come watch some footie!

Saturday morning starts early as Chelsea travel to Norwich in the 5:45am slot.  There is plenty more EPL action to follow that match during our morning Happy Hour, with  Everton, Newcastle, Fulham, and Liverpool on the schedule. The USMNT is back in action Saturday evening taking on South American side Venezuela.  This will be a young team, composed of players that ply their trade in MLS for the most part.  A great chance to look at some new talent, and for some of these players to earn their way into the first team.

Sunday morning we have two top tier EPL matches to start the day.  First Manchester City host an in form Tottenham Hotspur, with a 6:30am kickoff.  The Spurs are within reach of the top of the table, and a win here would put them within two points of City at the top.  Right now it is a three horse race to win the league, and both the Spurs and Manchester United are right in the thick of it.  Our 9am kickoff has the Red Devils travelling to the Emirates to face an Arsenal side that is reeling after dropping their last two matches.  The Gunners would love to get back on track with a result against their rivals, not to mention they will be keen to avenge the thrashing they received from United earlier this year.  Of course Sir Alex and the boys from Manchester will likely have a lot to say about that.  We finish the day, and week, with a league fixture for both Barcelona (10am) and Real Madrid (1:30pm), and we will be showing the pointy ended version of the game throughout the afternoon.
On the Horizon

Wednesday of next week will be a massive football day, with three big games on the schedule.  At lunchtime we have Liverpool taking on Manchester City in the second Leg of the Carling Cup Semifinals, and Barcelona hosting Real Madrid in the second leg of the Copa Del Rey Quarterfinal.  In the early evening the USMNT take on regional rival Panama in an International Friendly.  Next weekend we have FA Cup 4th round action to look forward to, with the highlight match pitting Liverpool v Manchester United early Saturday morning.
