World Football Update - May 9th 2012
Feature Matches

Midweek football (Wednesday) gives us the Europa League Final, the Npower Championship Playoff, and some great MLS action.  Two Spanish sidesAtletico Madrid and Atletic Bilbao have earned a berth in the Europa league Finals.  These two clubs are well familiar with each other, and this Final should provide for some very entertaining football.  In the early afternoonBirmingham tries to claw their way back into contention for the Championship playoff Final at Wembley, as they face Ian Holloways Blackpool.  The winner of this two leg Semi will faceWest Ham in a one game Final to decide which team will return to the Premiership for the 2012/13 Campaign.

MLS, despite the Rapids having the week off, highlights our Wednesday and Saturday lineup.  We also have the German Cup Final Saturday at noon betweenBorussia Dortmund and Bayern Munchen, first and second respectively in the Bundesliga.

The real story this week however is the final day of the 2011/12 EPL season.  There is much to play for, and the Lions will be featuring as many games as possible.  Every match kicks off simultaneously at 8am Sunday morning, and we have set the matches to specific areas to accomodate fans of all teams, and feature the most important matches (see below to see what area of the Pub your match will be shown).  There are three big stories that will unfold Sunday morning, the League winner will be decided, who makes Champions/Europa League football next year, and of course who will face relegation.   It is an all Manchester battle to win the league with City and United tied on points.  City hold the goal differential advantage, and with a win they will wrap up their first title in forty some odd years.  United will, of course, be expected to take care of their business should City falter.  Its a three horse race for Champions League football, and Arsenal hold the slimmest of advantages over Newcastle and Tottenham.  The Geordies and the Gunners have the toughest test, playing away and both needing the win, againstEverton and West Brom respectively.  Tottenham are playing at home to the team with the worst away record in the league,Fulham, which should be three points for them.  Two sides have already been relegated, Wolves and Blackburn, while Bolton andQueens Park Rangers still have everything to play for.  Unfortunately for QPR, they happen to face City away on the final day, which means it is likely they will have to rely on Bolton to lose or tie at Stoke to ensure their safety.  Anyway you look at it there will be Glory and disappointment on this final day of the EPL campaign.  We will be serving Breakfast and Happy Hour while all the action takes place, but get in early to get a good spot for what promises to be an epic day!

On the Horizon

Next week our Colorado Rapids faceD.C. United (Wednesday night) away, and then return home to take on Eastern conference leaders Sporting K.C. Saturday night. We have two great Finals to look forward to on Saturday May 19th, with the Playoff Championship kicking off early, and the 2012 Champions League Final kicking off in the afternoon.  Dont forget it is less than thirty days until this Summers European Cup kicks off as well!
