Feature Matches

English League Cup matches are the lunchtime fare Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, withLeeds United facing Everton this afternoon.  Everton are off to a smashing start to their Barclays Premier League campaign, sitting third in the table after five matches.  They face a Leeds side that has plenty of great history, but a less than stellar record over the last decade.  Leeds has struggled mightily, going from a team on the cusp of Champions League glory, to plying their trade in the lower tiers of English football.  Wednesdays League Cup match of the day features Manchester United against Newcastle, with one of these big clubs heading home at the end of the day.  WestBromwich Albion face Liverpool, with the match featured on tape delay in the early evening.

Our weekend football kicks off Friday evening at dinnertime, with an MLS battle for supremacy in the Eastern Conference.  Sporting K.C. play host to a resurgent ChicagoFire, with only two points separating the teams at the top of the table.  Chicago is red hot, coming off four straight wins, and they are well aware that K.C. has been vulnerable at home.  Expect the winner here to take the Eastern Conference title.

Saturday morning provides us with a huge EPL clash, as London sides Chelsea and Arsenal battle at Stamford Bridge.  The match kicks off early (5:45am), and it will surely be worth losing some sleep over.  Both sides are undefeated five matches into the campaign.  The Blues hold the advantage, and the top of the table, with four wins and a draw.  Arsenal are on two wins and three draws, and are playing their best football in years.   This one is sure to be a knock down drag out affair, and the Lions will be serving full breakfast, and Happy Hour (7am) for this EPL match of the week.  Saturdays 8am matches feature Manchester City andLiverpool, as they face Fulham and Norwich away.  The 10:30am slot brings us another mouth watering fixture, asManchester United host the Tottenham Hotspur.  Spurs started slow, but nabbed a win last week against QPR.  Theyll be keen to get a result here, but theyll have their work cut out for them at Old Trafford.  The early afternoon brings us La Liga leaders Barcelona taking on Sevilla (2pm).  The evening finishes with plenty of MLS action, with the highlight match pitting Vancouver against Seattle in the Cascadia Cup (7pm).

Sundays highlight match has our Colorado Rapids taking on the L.A. Galaxy at home with a 5pm kick off.  This is one of three remaining home matches in the 2012 season, and the Bulldog Supporters Group will be running a bus shuttle from the Pub leaving in the early afternoon.  Lets help our hometown boys finish strong by getting out in support, as they face the likes of Donavan, Beckham, and Keane right here at home!  Reservations can be made for the shuttle at: www.bulldogsupporters.com

Last, but not least, there are two great opportunities to support charitable causes this week at Three Lions.  Tonight (9/25) 20% of all food proceeds sold at the Pub between 5-9pm will be donated to the East High Boys Soccer Program.  They are raising funds to send their squad to Saint Louis for the Gateway Classic at the end of the month.  We are very proud to help our neighbors and defending State Champions raise money for travel expenses, so if you dont have plans come down and support a great cause.  The other major charitable event we are supporting falls on Saturday afternoon. America SCORES Denver is attempting to break a Guinness World Record for the most people simultaneously dribbling a soccer ball.  The event is being held at East High School on the turf field, and each participant will receive a t-shirt and soccer ball for being a part of the World Record breaking attempt.  Please pre-register if you can participate in this fun and charitable fundraising eventhttp://soccerdribble.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1033558 .  Registration is $25 per individual, and $50 for a group of four, with all proceeds directly supporting America SCORES Denver, which provides its innovative soccer, poetry and service learning programming to 320 poet-athletes at ten West Denver DPS schools.
