Feature Matches
October is coming to a close, and with it the 2012 MLS regular season has wrapped up. On Wednesday night, which happens to be Halloween, the 2012 MLS Playoffs commence. The format has the 4th and 5th place seeds in both the East and West in a single playoff game, with the winner earning the chance to face the #1 seed in a home and away series. Wednesdays match pits the Chicago Fire versus the Houston Dynamo. The match kicks off at 7pm, and will be shown live with volume. We are also running some specials for Halloween, including $3 Jagermeister, $3 Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey, and $3 Weller Reserve bourbon. If your getting dressed up stop by and catch a bit of the game.
MLS playoff action continues Thursday night with the defending Champion Los Angeles Galaxy taking on first time playoff contenders the Vancouver Whitecaps. The Galaxy started slow this year, but have come on strong towards the end. Friday night the Seattle Sounders host Real Salt Lake in the first match of their home and away series. This is the #2 and #3 seed in the West, and this should be a terrific clash. We will have this match live with volume on the balcony, with an 8pm kickoff time. Saturday we have #2 and #3 in the East doing battle, with the New York Red Bulls hosting D.C. United (6pm Kickoff). Our MLS Playoff action for the week wraps up on Sunday, as the #1 seeds from each conference, San Jose and Sporting K.C., await their opponents.
In Europe we have the Copa Del Rey (Spain), and League Cup (England), as our midweek fare. The highlight match falls Wednesday afternoon as Chelsea and Manchester United rematch (1:45pm) after their contentious battle in the Prem last Sunday.
On the weekend we start out with a bang, as Manchester United host Arsenal early Saturday morning (6:45am kickoff). Spurs, Chelsea, Hammers, and City fill out the rest of the mornings EPL fixtures, and then the focus moves to Spain. Barcelona host Celta Vigo followed by Real Madrid taking on Zaragoza. Both of the big two from Spain had resounding victories last week, and as always, it will be fun to watch these two great sides do their business.
Sunday morning starts early at the Pub, with Queens Park Rangers taking on Reading (6:30am). QPR gave Arsenal fits and starts last weekend, and they will be desperate to nab some points here. The 9am slot has Liverpool hosting Newcastle in what should be a classic EPL battle. The Reds are fresh off the Derby with Everton, and now have their work cut out against a difficult Geordie side. The Broncos fill the gap until MLS playoff action kicks in for the early afternoon. Dont forget about our traditional Sunday Roast for only $9.99, which will be the perfect compliment to our MLS Playoff coverage.
On the Horizon
Midweek brings us Match Day 4 of the Champions League, 2nd leg matches of the MLS Playoffs, and Europa League. On the weekend, highlights include the 1st leg of the MLS Conference Finals, and in the EPL we have Tottenham v Manchester City and Liverpool v Chelsea to look forward to.
