World Football Update
Feature Matches

We have a couple of highlight matches mid week, starting with Chelsea v Aston Villa on Wednesday afternoon.  Villa is coming off a huge win on the weekend, and would love to pull two upsets in a row.  American Brad Guzan minds the nets for them, and they'll have their work cut out for them against one of the strongest sides in EPL.  Directly following this fixture the first leg of the Supercopa de Espana kicks off.  This two leg series pits last year's La Liga Champions against the winner of last year's Copa Del Rey.  Barcelona will be taking on Atletico Madrid for the first silverware of the 2013/14 campaign in Spain.

Later in the evening on Wednesday we have two key Western Conference MLS match ups.  The Rapids are coming off another terrific result, but in the Western Conference things are tight.  Most of the teams have a game or two in hand on Colorado, and we won't know where we stand until they catch up.  The key match for us to keep our eye on is Portland v Salt Lake, kicking off at 9pm.  The Timbers play twice this week, with their other key match being the Cascadia Cup Derby on Sunday evening against Seattle.  The best result for the Rapids would probably be a draw in both fixtures, which would keep us right in the thick of it with no more games in hand for our competition.

The EPL, and La Liga cover the bulk of our weekend coverage, with a bit of the Bundesliga featured as well.  The highlight match actually falls next Monday at lunchtime with Manchester United hosting Chelsea!

Thanks to everyone that made our two year anniversary party such a special night!

On the Horizon

The Rapids get a week off, returning to action on August 31st against Sporting K.C.  In International football we have plenty of action from around the World, including Manchester United v Chelsea in the EPL!
