World Football Update
Feature Matches
We have two mid week matches of note, before a super Saturday at the Lions this week!  A month out from the World Cup Final in Brazil, and the first of a spate of warmup friendlies is set to kickoff.  Two neighbors clash, as Germany take on Poland on Tuesday afternoon.  The Germans are a tournament favorite, and will surely be the USMNT's toughest test in Brazil.  In Club football, the Europa League Final falls Wednesday afternoon.  The fifth place side from Spain, Sevilla, take on top of the table Portugese side Benfica.  A terrific lunchtime match, and the first of the week with silverware on the line!
Saturday morning our attention will be split between the title battle in La Liga, and the contest for the FA Cup in England!  Arsenal are set to face Hull City, in a bid to end a nine year run with no silverware.  Hull are poised to win their first major trophy, and both sides are going to leave it all on the field at Wembley!  In La Liga the title race has come down to the final day, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid still in contention for the prize.  Barca face Atleti at the Camp Nou, knowing a win would give them the title, and a loss may see them finish as low as third.  Atletico need only a draw to become Champions, which would be well earned after a terrific season!  To Barca's advantage, Atletico must be wary of their upcoming date with Real Madrid in the Champions League Finals!  Immediately following the conclusion of these two matches we head to Germany for the DFB Pokal Final between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munchen. In the last few years this has become one of the greatest rivalries in football, with the two sides battling for titles in Europe, and domestically.
We finish a dramatic day of title matches a bit closer to home, as our Colorado Rapids face their most bitter rivals, Real Salt Lake, in a primetime Saturday night clash!  This is the first fixture in the three game Rocky Mountain Cup series, and a perfect chance for the Rapids to rebound from a dismal loss at home last week.  Pablo has been juggling the lineup a bit, but expect to see the Rapids strongest line up take to the pitch in Utah.  Make sure to join us at the Lions with other passionate Rapids fans in support, and you may win an authentic signed jersey from Dillon Powers!
On the Horizon
Next Saturday at the Lions we feature the Championship Playoff Final, the Champions League Final, and a home fixture for the Colorado Rapids against Montreal!
